I’m Andrea the Wandering Localista, and I am from a small town in Middle Tennessee. Three to be exact: Manchester, Tullahoma, and Winchester and beyond. This shall be known as the Greater Coffee County Area. I claim all three because I’m a part of all three and they are a part of me. I grew up in Winchester, live in Manchester, and spend a good portion of my time in Tullahoma. All have their own exceptional set of traits that make them unique with meandering backroads that lead to treasures untold. I don’t want them to be “untold” anymore. Even though that is part of any small town’s magic because only the locals can see it. This page is to share the magic for both locals and tourists alike. If you are looking for fun things to do in Middle Tennessee, my goal is to make this your one-stop shop.
Treasure Trove of Hidden Gems
Come and experience our magic. As the Tristar State grows, these “tritowns” grow too. Here in the South, we do things slower than the rest of the country. Our growth is no exception. Instead of focusing on the rush we may or may not be in, I want to focus on those “hidden” gems we already cherish, and the new ones popping up every day. We have a treasure trove of local small businesses in our little neck of the woods that is pretty spectacular. I go out of my way to #ShopLocal every chance I get and wanted to create a space just for them. We don’t think of it as customer service. Here in the south, it’s just called being friendly and everyone and their dog is in on it. I’m totally serious about the dogs!
Small Town Girl In a Big City
Upon graduating high school, I wanted to be anywhere but here. I wanted to be in a big city and to see how far and wide
We are only about an hour away from Nashville and 45 minutes from Chattanooga which is what I consider my “playground” when I need to scratch the big city itch. Having these larger cities in my backyard allows me the freedom and opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the smaller things in life too (i.e. my small towns). The grass isn’t greener on the other side, its greener where you water it and there is PLENTY of grass in all parts of Tennessee to never feel deprived, so drink up buttercups.
Become a Local Tourist in Middle Tennessee
Travel is one of my favorite things to do. I love to travel everywhere, not just in Tennessee. My hope is that all of you locals will become tourists in your own town discovering something new and fun when wanderlust strikes you. Part of the focus of this blog is traveling, but I feel it’s only fair to start with my roots before expanding and exploring the rest of this beautiful world. So if you are looking for something to do in Middle Tennessee, this is the place for you!
